Pilates is a Full Body System of Movement
Growing older can mean moving better, feeling stronger, and becoming more flexible — not less. Pilates, when taught correctly, supports more efficient movement patterns, helping reduce injuries and physical issues over time.
Pilates is Tensegrity - the balanced relationship between length and strength throughout the entire muscular, skeletal, and connective system, especially the spine. Each class moves the spine through all ten directions, while encouraging smooth movement of the ball and socket joints on a stable core.
Pilates helps us move more effectively and calms our nervous system through diaphragmatic breathing.
Our goal is to move freely and be pain free.
The original apparatus — Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels — use variable spring resistance that adapts through range, promotes joint centration, and demands precision and control.

My life has taken me many places. I grew up in Gosford in ballet studios, became a showgirl at eighteen and ended up in The Bahamas. After four years dancing professionally, I decided to teach Classical Ballet and Pilates and studied to teach both at the same time. Certifying from the Royal Academy of Dance and STOTT Pilates in Canada, I realised teaching Pilates was my real passion. I have always been fascinated by how the body moves.
I opened my first studio in The Bahamas in 2001 which is still in operation today. After selling my share, I moved to Canada in 2008. I learned a lot by teaching side by side next to amazing physiotherapists and experienced Pilates teachers for many years.
I opened Gosford Pilates in 2017 and love being home. I love watching my clients become stronger with more balance as they get into their 60’s and 70’s and beyond. I love watching them create more efficient muscle firing patterns, improve their every day lives and their sports. I am not interested in burning calories or sculpting the “perfect” body. I am interested in changing people’s lives by ensuring they do not fall, or if they do, they do not break anything. Making sure they can lift their shopping or run to catch a bus.
I have attended every course in body movement and therapy that I have been able to for the last twenty six years and I have brought this knowledge together to create my personal teaching approach. Not just a workout, but a form or exercise based therapy. I believe in Prehab, to prevent Rehab. I believe we can only learn and improve in a positive, happy environment.
